Tom Hiddleston Goes Full Gorilla to Promote Latest, Epic 'Kong: Skull Island' Trailer!

By

Tom Hiddleston
stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday to introduce a brand new trailer for his hotly anticipated action adventure film, Kong: Skull Island, and the handsome star made sure to dress for the occasion.

Walking out in a full-body gorilla costume, Hiddleston answered a few questions from Kimmel before introducing the clip. Namely, since the actor plays a human character in the film, "Why are you dressed as a gorilla?"

"Well, they told me to. They said everyone does this," Hiddleston explained, sounding confused. "Somebody on your staff said people do this, like when Leonardo DiCaprio came on here for The Revenant he dressed as the bear."

"Oh, no," Kimmel replied. "Leo DiCaprio's never actually even been on our show. Who told you to do this?"

"Your executive producer?" Hiddleston replied, before pointing at Kimmel's sidekick (and security guard) Guillermo, who quickly ran out of the studio with Hiddleston -- still dressed as a giant gorilla -- in hot pursuit.

After their adorable exchange, Kimmel got to what everyone was really looking forward to: an exclusive look at director Jordan Vogt-Roberts' latest take on the King Kong story.

It's clear from the first few minutes that this take on the iconic tale is upping the ante in every way -- most specifically in terms of scale. While the Kong of the 1930s (and even Peter Jackson's Kong in 2005) was big enough to scale the Empire State Building, this latest Kong appears to be nearly the same height at the Empire State Building.

Kong: Skull Island
is also taking on a new, scarier approach to the exotic locale's other various frightening fauna as well. While the Skull Island of previous films was populated with dinosaurs and giant bugs, this new Skull Island has terrifying creatures from your worst nightmares blown up to gigantic proportions.

The only thing more impressive than the carnivorous beasts and sweeping jungle vistas might be the ensemble cast. Hiddleston stars alongside Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Brie Larson, John C. Reilly, Toby Kebbell, Corey Hawkins, Jing Tian and Tom Wilkinson.

Kong: Skull Island
stomps into theaters March 10.
