Donald Glover Cast as Simba in 'Lion King' Remake

James Earl Jones joins the live-action film as Mufasa.

Donald Glover is officially having his moment.

On Friday, Lion King director Jon Favreau announced on Instagram that the Atlanta star and creator would play Simba in the live-action remake of the classic Disney film.

"I just can’t wait to be king. #Simba," Favreau shared.

Go, Glover!

Additionally, Favreau revealed that James Earl Jones would play Mufasa, writing, "Looking forward to working with this legend. #Mufasa."

The casting news comes after a devastatingly good year for Glover, who won an Emmy for his FX series, Atlanta; released a critically-acclaimed album, Awaken, My Love!; had a baby; and was named young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo standalone film.
