"Fox... What in the horrendous f**k!? You can't play two different characters in the same universe!!! It'll never work," Reynolds wrote, pointing out that Brolin already plays Thanos in Marvel movies. "Brolin was in Sicario and I was in Sabrina The Teenage Witch. #NathanSummers."

Brolin, too, confirmed the news on Instagram with a clever caption.

"When you have a man-crush on Ryan Reynolds, what do you do? CRUSH IT!!!!!" he wrote alongside a pic of his character. "#deadpool2 #cable @20century_fox @vancityreynolds."

The Hollywood Reporter
was first to announce that Brolin nabbed the role of Cable, beating out names like Michael Shannon, David Harbour and Russell Crowe and Brad Pitt.

Cable, whose real name is Nathan Summers, is the adult son of the X-Man Cyclops (Scott Summers) and Madelyne Pryor (Jean Grey's clone), and is in many ways described as the opposite of Deadpool. In the comics, the two characters work together as reluctant partners.

In March, Atlanta star Zazie Beetz was cast as Domino, and Pierce Brosnan has been rumored to be joining the cast for the last few months. See more in the video below.
