Andy Samberg will voice a chimp sent into outer space to help save a far-off planet in the animated 'Space Chimps.'
"Saturday Night Live" star ANDY SAMBERG, famous for his "SNL" mock-music videos (including one starring a potty-mouthed rapping NATALIE PORTMAN), is set to voice the lead character in the upcoming CGI-animated feature, 'Space Chimps,' according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Samberg, 28, will co-star in the pic with JEFF DANIELS, KENAN THOMPSON, STANLEY TUCCI and "Curb Your Enthusiasm"'s CHERYL HINES.
The film revolves around an ape named Ham III (Samberg), who is the deadbeat grandson of the first chimpanzee ever sent into space. Ham III is sent by a senator (Tucci) into outer space and through a black hole to help a faraway planet overthrow a tyrant oppressor (Daniels).
KIRK De MICCO ('Racing Stripes') will write and produce the pic, which will be released in 2008.
