The chart-topping Katy Perry opens up about her new hubby Russell Brand, being in competition with her good friend Rihanna, and the art of the tease.

"I'm kind of a good girl -- and I'm not," Perry says in a new interview with Harper's Bazaar. "I'm a good girl because I really believe in love, integrity, and respect. I'm a bad girl because I like to tease. I know that I have sex appeal in my deck of cards. But I like to get people thinking. That's what the stories in my music do."

Making headlines recently was the pop star's wedding to British comedian Russell Brand, whom she says has all the qualities she was looking for.

"We're at different places in our lives, but we can still grow together," she says. "He's thought-provoking, articulate, a real advocate. I also definitely wanted to have a laugh. I have all that in him."

Meanwhile, Perry says there's no competitive feelings between her and good friend Rihanna, saying there's enough room in the music world for the both of them.

"We are all unique," she says. "That's why we all win and we all can exist. People don't want just vanilla. They want 31 flavors. I couldn't do what Rihanna does. I couldn't do what Gaga does. They can't do what I do."

The December issue of Harper's Bazaar is on newsstands November 23.
