Pop star Aaron Carter is seeking help at a treatment facility, his rep told People.

The former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant is working to "heal some emotional and spiritual issues he was dealing with," manager Johnny Wright said in a statement to the magazine. "He has chosen to enter a facility where he feels he will get the guidance and cleansing he needs, which in tern will help him on the music journey he's about to take."

Wright did not elaborate on the context of the issues Carter is battling or where the rehab program is located. Late Sunday night, Carter tweeted, "The main thing in life is not to be afraid of being human." Earlier this month, he tweeted, "Life Has It's up's & Downs,You Can Only Live & Learn. Never Lose Faith!! & Always Believe In Yourself! As I Am learning To Do Every day."

In 2008, Carter was arrested for investigation of marijuana possession in Texas. Older brother Nick Carter has faced drug and alcohol addiction in years past. Nick’s Backstreet Boys bandmate AJ McLean recently checked in for treatment as well, ahead of BSB and New Kids on the Block joining forces on a massive concert tour.
