Christina Aguilera to be Coach on New Music Competition

Christina Aguilera has been chosen as a musician coach to hopefuls appearing on a new musical competition show.
The Grammy Award-winning artist will mentor contestants on NBC's new competition show "The Voice," which premieres April 26. "I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it," Aguilera said in a statement. Other artists to serve as coaches on the show will include Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5's Adam Levine.
"Her journey as an artist, who started so young in the music business, will be an inspiration to the talent she coaches on the show," said Paul Telegdy, Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming at NBC and Universal Media Studios said of the appointment.
Aguilera was arrested under "protective custody welfare circumstances" Tuesday morning in West Hollywood "for her own safety" due to intoxication, according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department. The Grammy winner was a passenger in the vehicle that her boyfriend Matthew Rutler was determined to be driving. Rutler was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked. Aguilera was taken into custody for her own safety because she was intoxicated and nobody else could take care of her.
Aguilera also made headlines after she flubbed some lines while singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, then approximately a week later she tripped on the Grammy stage following a performance.
