Seems like "American Idol" winnerScotty McCreery is off to a soaring start as his debut single, "I Love You This Big," made country music history by becoming the first highest-charting debut song for a new artist in over 20 years.

"I Love You This Big," which was sent to radio on May 24 after Scotty debuted it on "Idol," came in at number 32 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. The song also hit number one on iTunes and number three on Billboard's Digital Songs chart with 171,404 units sold. Subsequently, his compilation album from the show, American Idol Season 10: Scotty McCreery, hit number 12 on Billboard's Top 200 and number three on the country albums chart.

With so much accomplished so early, Scotty was far from hesitant in expressing his gratitude. "I am humble and shocked by the news," Scotty said in a press release. "I can't tell you what it means to me to be on the same charts as my musical heroes. ... I continue to be amazed by everything that has happened to me in such a short time."
