Ronnie Dunn Reflects on His New Life as a Solo Artist

It's been almost a year since the long-running country duo Brooks & Dunn officially parted ways, but as Ronnie Dunn prepares for his June 7th debut as a solo artist, he tells ET's Nancy O'Dell that he's ready for "the beginning of a new adventure."

Walking away from a legendary career which earned the pair six number one albums, and nineteen number one singles was daunting. At a time where young artists such as Taylor Swift, and Scotty McCreery dominate the airwaves, he tells Nancy he "worried twenty-four-seven" about going solo, but ultimately embraced the opportunity to grow as a artist. "Its just the beginning of a new adventure. I still feel the same anxiety I did back then, but I've learned over the years that it's really the music that has to do it."

As the best selling duo in country music history, the decision to split was a hard one, Dunn says. "It was a great time, but Kix [Brooks] and I both agreed, it was just time to do it. Time to try other things."

"The Last Rodeo" farewell tour was an end to his professional relationship with Kix, however Dunn says they keep in touch "all the time," joking that the upside about having the stage to himself is he no longer has to put up with "a guy in a cowboy hat dancing during ballads."
