A joyful event reportedly turned tragic on Saturday as fans waited for Sugarland's performance at a concert in Indiana.

People.com reports that five people died and 40 others were injured at the Indiana State Fairgrounds after extreme winds caused a stage to crumble.

The band was intact but they tweeted their condolences, writing, "We are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you'll join us. They need your strength."

"I'm speechless and feel so helpless," tweeted Sara Bareilles, who opened for Sugarland prior to the accident. "Please send love and prayers to Indianapolis tonight. My heart aches for the lives lost."
