Aretha Franklin took time off from touring and singing in December 2010 and underwent a surgical procedure to treat a still-unnamed illness. But as the Queen of Soul proved this weekend, she's back and better than ever!
The 68-year-old was honored with a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Tribute Concert in Cleveland which included performances from Ms. Lauryn Hill, Chaka Khan, American Idol Melinda Doolittle and -- in a total shock to everyone, Aretha herself!
Later, she was awarded a key to the city during a dedication that brought tears to her eyes. "I am here by the grace of god tonight," Aretha told the rapt audience upon receiving the 2011 Music Masters Award. "And I want you to know, that grace is going to lead me on."
