It's been nearly 11 years since the tragic death of recording artist/actress Aaliyah and now the "Princess of R&B" is being remembered by friends and family in an updated documentary airing tonight on VH1.

The network's series Behind the Music will feature additional footage of the star and delve into the circumstances surrounding her death in the special airing tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Aaliyah was killed along with eight other passengers in a tragic plane crash in the Bahamas in August 2001.
