Director's Cut: Taylor Swift's Romantic Musings

Taylor Swift has made her name in music by turning heartbreak into music gold, but somehow her suitors tend not to take this into consideration, as revealed in a recent sit-down with ET's Nancy O'Dell.

"They never go into this like, 'I really want to ask you out, but could you not write songs about us?'" Swift, 22, explained. "They say that when we're breaking up. They're like, 'You better not write a song about this!' And I'm like, 'Oh, I won't!' And then I do."

Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner and John Mayer are a few of the big-name stars that Swift has been linked to in the past - an enviable list for your average 22-year-old girl -- but Swift admits that she's still hoping for a long-term commitment.

"I haven't really had any long-term relationships, so I don't know that much about them," the Grammy winner said. "I like the idea of them, though. I write songs about love constantly, so I love the idea of it and I love writing about it. We'll see how I end up doing with the actual thing."

If and when Swift does find "the one," we might hear her singing songs about child rearing, but she's still undecided about how many children she would want to have.

"It would be nice to have a family," Swift said when asked where she saw herself in 20 years. "I don't know [how many kids I want to have]. I know that I love children and I would love to have a family someday, but I have no idea what goes into that. It's got to be difficult."

Taylor's highly anticipated album Red is out now. Tune in to tomorrow as ET's Taylor Swift Week continues. Also, click below for a look at Swift's just-released Begin Again music video.
