Alicia Keys performed alongside Jennifer Hudson and Bonnie Raitt while hosting her annual Black Ball charity event last night that raised $2.9 million for her charity Keep a Child Alive.

Alicia was introduced by emcee Whoopi Goldberg at the Black Ball Redux -- which had been postponed due to Hurricane Sandy -- at New York's famous Apollo Theater. The R&B star said the event gave her a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to honor Oprah for her many philanthropic efforts, including her Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.

"This stage right here is electrifying with the energy, the history, the music, and the life and power it has evoked for years and years and years," Alicia said about the Apollo Theater. "So this majestic place is the perfect place to celebrate our honorees, Angélique Kidjo and Oprah Winfrey."

"I thank you for this award, it just says I'm moving in the right direction," said Oprah after accepting her award. Also honored was Angélique Kidjo, a Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter and activist from the West African nation of Benin.
