Artist You Should Know: Jann Klose

By

Meet German-born pop singer-songwriter, Jann Klose, an artist whose range and talents reflect a truly multicultural life. Klose was born in Mannheim, Germany and raised in Nairobi, Kenya and Johannesburg, South Africa where he attended school. He first came to the U.S. as an exchange student. It was here that he began teaching himself the keyboard and subsequently guitar as well as singing in the high school choir. And the rest is history.

Jann's music is rooted in pop, folk, rock, jazz and blues and boy, can he sing! Look him up and you'll quickly realize that there are virtually no limits to what his voice can do.

This innate ability caught the attention of director Dan Algrant who cast Jann as a feature vocalist and guitarist in the Jeff Buckley biopic, Greetings From Tim Buckley, starring Penn Badgley and Imogen Poots in theaters April 16th.

While he's maintained a steady touring schedule of about 75-100 shows a year in the U.S., Europe and Asia, Jann's got another big year ahead of him with the June 2013 release of his new album Mosaic. I got the chance to meet Jann to talk about the record, the Buckley film and what his biggest guilty pleasure is! Be sure to watch our full interview for a special acoustic performance of the single Still.
