Lauryn Hill had an amazing 1998 as her debut solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, swept the Grammys and became a radio staple for life. The subsequent 15 years have been less sunny as a smattering of legal and personal issues tarnished her once rocking reputation.

Her financial woes were set to, potentially, send her to prison this week (she pleaded guilty to charges of tax evasion for failing to file tax returns for the years 2005, 2006 and 2007), but a last minute deal is set to save her from incarceration.

Sentencing has been postponed for two weeks in order for Hill to make restitution now that she's signed a $1 million contract with Sony Records (via), which will have her write, release and record a new 5-track album!

Obviously that's easier said than done given Hill's rocky history with contracts/labels/deadlines, but this is one fan praying Lauryn reclaims her throne!
