Swift Sweeps the 2013 Billboard Music Awards

Country pop darling Taylor Swift took home eight trophies at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards Sunday to become the show's biggest winner of the night!

Among the 23-year-old singer's most notable achievements, Swift was named Billboard Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Top Digital Artist, and Top Billboard 200 Artist, as well as earning the Billboard 200 Album of the Year award for her most recent CD, Red.

Rihanna swept the R&B categories, earning a statue for Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Album (Unapologetic), Top R&B Song (Diamonds).

Nicki Minaj scored a slew of awards as well, taking the stage to accept Top Streaming Artist, Top Rap Artist, and Top Rap Album for Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

Justin Bieber also had his fair share of top honors. The 19-year-old wonder was crowned Top Male Artist and Top Social Artist of 2012.

Madonna was spotlighted for her achievement as the Top Touring Artist, Top Dance Artist and Top Dance Album for MDNA.

Mexican American singer Jenni Rivera was given two posthumous awards: Top Latin Artist and Top Latin Album (La Misma Gran Senora). Rivera died at age 43 in a plane crash on December 9, 2012.

Other major awards went to Maroon 5, who snagged Billboard's Hot 100 Artist of the Year trophy, and One Direction, who scored the Top New Artist award. Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know feat. Kimbra was singled out for four statues including Hot 100 Song of the Year, Top Rock Song, Top Radio Song and Top Streaming Song.
