Swift On Kid Rock's 'Lip-Sync' Statement

He tilted his mug and failed to mention any names when multi-genre singer Kid Rock took to the stage to present an award at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas and called attention to "lip-synchers," causing an uproar from peers and fans alike including Vegas veteran and music legend Celine Dion.

Swift Sweeps The 2013 Billboard Awards

"Lip-sync existed a long long time ago. It will always be. It's not a surprise. It did happen. It's happening and it will happen again," said an adamant Celine Dion. "But at the end of the day, you see the artist that you like, enjoy the performance. A lot of artists are doing a lot of physical work and stunts and a lot of artists are doing a lot of acrobatic performance. Is she? Isn’t he? [who cares?] Enjoy the show!"

The 28-Grammy-award-winning Dion returned to Vegas in 2011 for a three-year contract headlining her own show in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and has been a mainstay since. The first stint was in 2002 at Caesars.

On the heels of Chris Brown's performance of Fine China and before presenting the award for Top Rap Song of the year to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for the hit tune Thrift Shop, Kid Rock said:

"Let's give it up for people lip-synching under pre-recorded music."

In response to the Cowboy singers statement, country crooner Taylor Swift who performed her hit 22 and walked away from the evening with eight trophies including Billboard Artist Of The Year said, "Well I didn't [lip-sync]."

The controversial statement drew instant mixed responses from the Twitter universe leading many to speculate if the Born Free singer was directly referring to anyone who performed at the awards show.

@Peace_Love_Pie: @KidRock was right #billboard performers who lip sync stink. @taylorswift13 @iconapop @justinbieber @xtina @aha_com shame on you!

@dfiregirl4: Kid Rock: "Lets give it up for people lip-synching to pre-recorded music!" And the award for best quote goes to Kid Rock! #BBMAs

@ZARRYPANIC: LEAVE IT TO KID ROCK TO BE BRUTALLY HONEST AND SAY WHAT WE'RE ALL THINKING

@katmiddlet0n: Life is okay because @iconapop just owned everyone at #bbma obviously they DIDN'T lip sync, kid rock

Kid Rock’s comment comes in the shadow of controversy stirred last week when Mariah Carey’s live performance at the American Idol Finale sparked conversation Twitter-style that the self-proclaimed diva was lip-syncing during her much-anticipated act of which her reps have confirmed she absolutely did not.

Do you think Kid Rock was referring to anyone specific or just being prolific?
