Hang Out With 'Fitz' of Fitz and the Tantrums

One of the biggest breakthrough artists of last year, Fitz and the Tantrums, is back and groovier than ever. I got a chance to hang out with lead singer Michael Fitzpatrick (aka Fitz) at a local park in his neighborhood in good ol' Silverlake, CA, the place he wrote the group's very first EP.

They've come a long away since then, having sold over 200,000 copies of their debut album, 2010's Pickin' Up the Pieces, and sold out two U.S. headline tours.

With their latest effort, More Than Just A Dream, the Los Angeles-based sextet defy genre once again and opt for a timeless, soulful record that will inevitably make you want to dance. Great songwriting is matched by the sonic force of Fitz and co-lead vocalist Noelle Scaggs. Add the power of the Tantrums you've got one of my favorite new albums this season. And as I found out at their Coachella set last year, these guys can really set it off!

In addition to Coachella, the band spent last summer on the rest of the festival circuit with appearances at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and OutsideLands. They will continue their headline tour starting today and into the rest of the summer and will also be supporting Bruno Mars and Dave Matthews Band.

But all of this success did not come easy, which makes Fitz and the Tantrums that more appealing. Be sure to watch the full interview for more on the genesis of the neo-soul pop band and the music video for lead single, Out Of My League.
