Music legend Cher is returning to the scene with her twenty-sixth album Closer To The Truth, her first since her 2001 album Living Proof, and she sat down with ET's Rob Marciano to talk about the most important things in life: Music, love, and art.

"For you it's been twelve years, twelve long years of your fans waiting, why did it take so long for you to get back in the studio again?" Rob asked the soft-spoken singer.

"I guess because my manager didn't start yelling at me until then," Cher said, explaining the hiatus. "I've said this, and I think people find this a little hard to believe, I just didn't think about it. I forgot."

Cher also spoke candidly about modern pop stars who are pushing limits, including Miley Cyrus, who recently released a music video for her song Wrecking Ball, in which she appears naked.

"Art is art, and it's meant to be controversial. And you can like it or not. If someone puts their art out there, you get to like it or not," Cher said. "When I was doing my stuff when I was younger people went 'she's almost naked!' I wasn't almost naked, ever, but things have just progressed. I kind of opened the door a little way and these girls kind of crashed it down."

"Art is art," Cher reiterated. "You don't have to like it, you can think it's awful, you can love it, but you don't get to stop it."

When asked if performers like Cyrus have gone too far, Cher said, "It's not my job to be the judge of that."

Cher's new album Closer To The Truth, her first in 12 years, will be coming out September 24.
