For the members of A Great Big World, the last couple weeks let alone the last year have been quite a whirlwind.

The relatively unknown duo, made up of Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino, hit their stride earlier this year when their singles This Is the New Year and Say Something were featured on Glee and So You Think You Can Dance, respectively.

"Ever since we aligned ourselves under A Great Big World the year has just been one thing after the other like a snowball effect" Ian says of their recent successes. Chad adds, "We've been very lucky."

But nothing could prepare them when one of pop music's biggest and legendary voices, Christina Aguilera, asked to be a part of Something.

"[When were in] disbelief," Ian explains about getting the call asking if they were open to collaborating with her. "[I thought to myself] 'Come on, what are you talking about? What am I going to wear?'"

Since then the guys have been on a fast track to success having performed the single last Tuesday with Christina on The Voice. Not only was their performance lauded by many including One Republic, Christina Perri and Xtina's fellow coach Cee Lo Green, but fans flock to download the track helping it reach the top spot on the iTunes charts.

I got a chance to catch up with the guys the day after their memorable appearance on The Voice and as you can tell from our interview they were definitely still pinching themselves.

Stick around through the video for a special acoustic performance of This Is the New Year off their debut album Is Anybody Out There? out January 14, which you can pre-order here.

Don't miss A Great Big World's next major TV appearance when they perform at the 2013 Victoria's Secret's Fashion Show alongside Taylor Swift and Fall Out Boy.
