Why Olivia Newton-John Almost Stopped Singing
February 04, 2014
Olivia Newton-John is gearing up for a fun-filled series of shows in Las Vegas, and ET's own Brooke Anderson spends a day with the movie and music icon! Does she gamble? Is she down for taking selfies with fans? And why is the opportunity so bittersweet? Watch the video...
Olivia tells Brooke, "I'm very excited to announce, especially for ET, that I'm going to be commencing a special engagement, a residency at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, starting in April, and I'm very excited!"
An international superstar for four decades thanks to hits like Physical and movies like Grease and Xanadu, Olivia's Summer Nights residency inside the Donny & Marie Showroom (while they're taking time off) begins on Tuesday, April 8, promising to take "audiences on a musical journey through her life in film and music" with the accompaniment of an eight-piece band.
So, will audiences get to see John Travolta joining his good friend on stage? "If you can talk him into coming to Vegas that would be cool," she laughs.
Watch the video for more, including Olivia's thoughts on how much she misses her older sister, Rona, who passed away from brain cancer, and why she almost stopped singing.
