March 18, 2014

Rock legend Mick Jagger opened up for the first time Tuesday about the death of his longtime girlfriend L'Wren Scott, whose body was discovered in her New York apartment on Monday after an apparent suicide.

In a statement posted on his official website and Facebook page, Jagger, 70, expresses his feelings about the tragic death of 49-year-old Scott, whom the rock star had been dating since 2001.

Earlier, Jagger's rep hit back at claims that he and Scott had recently split up.

"The story in the New York Post re a split between Mick Jagger and L'Wren Scott is 100 percent untrue," his spokeswoman, Victoria Scarfone, said in a statement to ET. "There is absolutely no basis in fact to this story. It is a horrible and inaccurate piece of gossip during this very tragic time for Mick."

The Rolling Stones have also canceled their 14 ON FIRE tour of Australia and New Zealand after the death of the designer.
