Exclusive: Lionel Richie Recalls His Amazing Chance Meeting with Marvin Gaye

Lionel Richie is still going strong and the 64-year-old crooner recently opened up about his new tour and also recalled his first amazing meeting with music icon Marvin Gaye. 

Marvin Gaye was recording and by accident, I went into the wrong recording room. He was just singing off the top of his head, making up as he went along -- there was such a freedom to it. And finally when he finished, I asked him the question, 'What music conservatory did you graduate from?' And he said, 'What's that?'And I said, 'Got it.'"

"I thought that you had to come from a university - there has to be a logical reason why you know what you know. And so this freedom of... you're this famous and you don't know how to do that? A light went on."
