Paul Simon & Wife Arrested
April 28, 2014
Paul Simon and his wife Edie Brickell have been arrested on disorderly conduct charges after an apparent domestic dispute over the weekend.
According to police, a call was placed Saturday evening to 911 about the incident at the couple's New Canaan, Conn. home. Officers who responded to the scene found minor injuries and believed it was a case of domestic violence.
Simon and Brickell held hands during an arraignment hearing Monday in Connecticut's Norwalk Superior Court. The couple said they did not feel threatened by each other and saw no need for a protective order. The judge asked them to return to court on May 16.
Simon, 72, and Brickell, 47, have been married since 1992. Simon -- who was half of the duo of Simon and Garfunkel before branching out as a solo artist -- is a 12-time Grammy Award winner and a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, as well as the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame.
