Cher Lloyd Reveals Scary Childhood Incident 'Sirens' Video Is Based On

By

ET correspondent Lance Bass recently interviewed British pop star Cher Lloyd about her new single Sirens off her second studio album Sorry I'm Late, and the 20-year-old X Factor star opened up about the very personal incident the new music video is based off of.

Lloyd's father was arrested when she was five years old, and her emotional new video recounts the harrowing experience.

"I had very young parents, and my mom was 18 when she had me," Lloyd said. "So to be living in that environment already, to have such young parents was difficult, and one thing I will say about my parents is that they've always been very supportive of me. They've always been such loving and supportive parents, but along with that, came a certain point in their lives where they had to do certain things to provide for us. ... Unfortunately, my dad got taken. He got taken away, and he got locked up."

Lloyd's mother than became the rock that she leaned on.

"I can wholeheartedly say my mom is the best mom in the world," she said, adding that she’s dedicated the music video to her.

Lloyd also dished on leaving her former label and how that has affected her new music.

"I think the reason it's more me [her new album Sorry I'm Late] is because I made this album,” she said. "Previously, it was very difficult to get my opinions across -- what I did want to do, and what I didn't want to do, and I was having this constant tug of war with people. ... I'm an artist. I have things I want to express. And to be blocked, and not to be able to express myself properly was a nightmare."

Check out the video for a look at her emotional new video for Sirens, and to hear how she feels about being married to husband Craig Monk at just 20 years old.
