5 Things You Should Know About Iggy Azalea

Here are five things you don't know about Iggy Azalea.

With a number one rap album and two singles in the Top 10 Billboard Singles Chart, Iggy Azalea is quickly becoming the breakthrough artist of the summer. But the road to success wasn't always easy for the Fancy rapper. Here are five things you don't know about the blonde beauty.

For starters, Iggy raps with a Southern American accent although her native Australian accent is quite strong when she speaks. Born Amethyst Amelia Kelly in Sydney, Australia, Iggy began rapping at age 14 and was heavily influenced by her time in Atlanta.

"I lived in the South for five years; you pick up things from your surroundings and teachers," she told Pop Manifest in 2012. "The people who taught me to rap are all from the South and so was the music I had listened to as a teen."

Iggy moved to America at age 16 before ever finishing high school. She worked as a housekeeper to make ends meet.

Iggy talked about her short gig cleaning houses in a recent interview on Chelsea Lately. "Now I have OCD so in my house I'm really anal about it and people hate it. If someone washes their hands and leaves any splashes of water on the sink, you can't come to my house again," she joked.

She's come a long way since then! Watch the video to learn more about Iggy Azalea, the unfortunate tattoo she had to alter and how she came up with her stage name.
