Now this looks like a party!

Kenny Chesney hit the Southern California desert for some good old fashioned fun while filming the "American Kids" music video. The full clip is set be revealed on Monday, June 30, via VEVO and CMT, but the country superstar is giving Entertainment Tonight a sneak peek today with these exclusive behind-the-scenes images.

"The spirit of this thing – the song, the bus, the idea of the kids riding around, having fun, playing music and just celebrating life – makes you want to get involved," Chesney tells ET. "Fun is where and how you make it. Out in the sun with a bunch of friends – and the people who work on my videos have been making them with me for more than a decade – even buckets of paint and a bus that needs to be covered can give you a reason to have fun."

Directed by Shaun Silva, "American Kids" finds Chesney partying along with an eclectic group of young men and women, making music and feeling adventurous in a crazy-colorful school bus. Chesney even lent a hand on the paint job, which took a full three days to complete. The psychedelic set of wheels is meant to represent going beyond your comfort zone and coloring outside the lines. "When you hear that song, big as it is, you can tell there's so much more to it: the freedom, the rush of how good life feels when you let go and embrace it," Chesney, a five-time ACM Entertainer of the Year, says. "It's easy to do a literal video, have a bonfire, hit a small town football field, but I wanted everyone to get out of what they know! It’s when you don’t know, and you’re winging it sometimes, that you have the most fun.

"If I could create a video where it wasn't so literal, but more about the state of mind and the freedom my fans embrace, then to me, that’s the best way to capture the song on film," he adds. "Anyone, everyone who’s ever been glad they’re alive... they’ll take one look at this and know."

The summertime anthem hit radio earlier this month on a whopping 116 stations in its first week. It’s the debut single off Chesney's forthcoming 15th studio album.
