Chris Brown is on the rebound.

As reports surface that the singer and girlfriend Karrueche Tran have called it quits, Brown announced via Instagram that his long-delayed comeback album will street next month.

With no caption, Brown posted this black and white photo of himself set against a red X -- the name of his album -- and the date September 16. Before that, Brown posted an image of himself in a court room, clad in an orange jumpsuit.

"I been through a lot in my life. Made a lot of mistakes along the way. But through it all I've always been true to myself and through God I've been able to take care of my family," he wrote in the caption. "I should regret some things but I think the lessons learned will shape me into a real man. I'm grateful and appreciative! Thank you for life!"

Brown's X was initially set to be released on April 1, 2013, but was delayed as the singer coped with his mounting legal issues. Brown ultimately landed in jail for part of his one-year sentence after violating his probation.

Even as the 25-year-old found himself behind bars and in a court-ordered rehab facility for much of 2014, his hit single "Loyal" became a radio smash and even cracked the Billboard Hot 100's Top 10. Brown's last album, Fortune, topped the Billboard 200 albums chart in 2012.

In other Brown news: the beleaguered star appears to have been spending quite a bit of time with Justin Bieber lately. The duo were snapped in the studio together and at partying at L.A. nightclub Bootsy Bellows last month. Perhaps the Biebs could have a feature on the forthcoming X.

Will you buy Brown's new album when it hits shelves next month?
