8 Fictional Bands We Wish Were Real

Why can't they be real?

Some movies and television shows have fictional bands with songs that are so delightfully catchy, we actually bought their album. We're breaking down the top eight fictional bands we wish were real.

8. Josie and the Pussycats
We all know their theme song from the original television show, but the release of the 2001 movie was a game changer. Though the movie flopped, the soundtrack became a certified gold album selling over 500,000 copies.

7. Microbe
Zedus Lepedus -- does this ring a bell millennials? It may be over 10 years since you've seen lead singer Protozoa and his band Microbe in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, but you still know every word -- Zoom zoom zoom!

6. Stillwater
If you're a follower of the cult classic Almost Famous, you certainly remember Stillwater and their hit song "Fever Dog." The song was even featured on the soundtrack to the movie, which won a Grammy that year.

5. Mouse Rat
The Chris Pratt-fronted band Mouse Rat (formerly Scarecrow Boat) earns our number five spot. The Parks and Recreation resident band has plagued us with catchy tunes like "The Pit," "Lil Sebastian" and "Catch Your Dream."

4. Jesse and the Rippers
It wouldn’t be a proper list if it didn’t include John Stamos! He fronted fictional band Jesse and the Rippers in Full House, and they even put out a hit with "Forever."

3. Otis Day and the Knights
"Shama Lama Ding Dong" makes even the most uncoordinated person move their feet. That's what makes Otis Day and the Knights from the movie Animal House so great. The fictional band also performed an epic cover of "Shout!" during the film's toga party.

2. The Wonders
The Wonders' "That Thing You Do!" from the 1996 film of the same name was so delightful we could only dream they were a real band. The song was a commercial and critical success, earning both Oscar and Golden Globe nominations.
