Gloria Estefan isn't paying attention to the Ariana Grande diva rumors. In fact, Estefan is such a longtime fan of the "Problems" singer that she thinks it'd be "wonderful" to have Grande portray her.
"Ariana Grande would be somebody wonderful," she said of having the 21-year-old star in the stage production of On Your Feet.
Estefan admits to the New York Daily News that she's been following Grande's career for a long time -- even longer than you may think. "I saw her when she was eight years old on a cruise ship and she had sung this song," Estefan recalled. "And I literally went up to her and told her and her mom, 'I don't know if you plan on doing this, but this is what you need to be doing because you are an amazing singer.'''
She added, "She was doing karaoke and we were listening because I love to go watch that stuff and it was amazing!"
Set to hit Broadway in the summer of 2015, On Your Feet -- named after the 57-year-old singer's 1989 hit "Get On Your Feet" -- is based on the life of Estefan and her musician husband Emilio Estefan, who she married in 1978. Estefan's hits "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You," "Conga," "1-2-3" and "Live For Loving You" will also be included in the performance.
