Taylor Swift Wishes You A Warm 'Welcome' With New Song Off '1989'

Taylor Swift has been slowly but surely giving fans little morsels from the grand feast that is her upcoming, hotly anticipated album 1989.

Today, she unleashed "Welcome To New York" on the world, and her fans ate it up.

At approximately 6:49 p.m., Taylor tweeted: "All systems go! #WelcomeToNewYork."

And indeed, all systems were go as "Welcome To New York" quickly became Taylor's No. 1 single in under two hours.

Taylor released a statement explaining her inspiration for the song, and what role the Big Apple plays in her life and her creative process.

"I started the album with 'Welcome To New York' because New York has been an important landscape and location for the story of my life in the last couple of years," Taylor explained. "It's like an electric city, and I approached moving there with such wide-eyed optimism. I saw New York as a place of endless potential and possibilities and you can hear that reflected in this music and in this song."

Last Monday, Taylor released "Out Of The Woods" on iTunes, much to the excitement of her fans who had been waiting with bated breath since she teased the release earlier that morning.
