The singer celebrated Elton John and David Furnish's nuptials - even though she wasn't there.

Isn’t this sweet?

Elton John
and his partner of more than 20 years David Furnish officially tied the knot on Sunday in front of star-studded guests, from David and Victoria Beckham to Hugh Grant and Ed Sheeran. But one Brit couldn’t make it to the ceremony, and more than made up for it!

Powerhouse singer-songwriter Adele apologized in a handwritten note for not being able to attend the nuptials, which Sir Elton posted on his Instagram.

“Biggest congratulations my loves,” Adele writes in the note in her beautiful handwriting. “Have a wonderful day. I’m sorry we are not there.”

But it appears Elton, 67, and David, 52, will see the “Someone Like You” singer and her family in the new year as the note ends with a promise: “See you in 2015.” Adele signs the note alongside her husband, Simon Kinecki and son Angelo.

Elton and David married in a private ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 21, posting photos on Instagram of the ceremony, their famous friends, the dinner menu and the celebration afterward.

On Dec. 10, Parliament made it legal to convert civil partnerships into marriages in the U.K., and Elton and John decided to take advantage of the change in legislation. They were one of the first couples to enter into a civil partnership in 2005 at the Windsor Guildhall.

Meanwhile, don’t expect new music from Adele before the year is out despite speculation earlier this year that the 26-year-old singer was releasing her third LP. As the New York Times reported in October, her record label XL Recordings indicated that new music from Adele isn’t being expected for a while.
