Some people wait a lifetime, for… you know the words.

It’s been 13 years since Kelly Clarkson was crowned the first ever American Idol back in 2002. In celebration of her 33rd birthday, we’re looking back to when the then-20-year-old singer sat down with ET, just moments after her emotional win.

“I am so disoriented right now!” Kelly said. “Everybody keeps asking me, ‘How do you feel?' and I'm like, ‘I don't even know!’ I have so many feelings rushing over me!”

It was no doubt an emotional night for Kelly, who couldn’t help but let the tears spill over during her epic performance of her first single, ‘A Moment Like This’ post-win.

“I'm so emotional, it stinks. I hate it!” Kelly went on. “I was crying and I was trying to get the song out -- and then, I didn't even see my mom the whole show. I had no idea where she was sitting -- and of course I see her right there at the end while I'm singing that song and she's bawling. Thanks mom!”
