Joni Mitchell's official website is refuting rumors that the legendary singer is unresponsive and in a coma.

"Contrary to rumors circulating on the Internet today, Joni is not in a coma," reads a statement posted on the singer’s official website Tuesday evening. "Joni is still in the hospital - but she comprehends, she’s alert, and she has her full senses. A full recovery is expected."

TMZ reported earlier Tuesday that Mitchell was in a coma and
unresponsive, and that her friend Leslie Morris was seeking a
conservatorship to oversee the singer’s medical care. The legal
documents filed by Morris and first reported by TMZ stated that the
singer was "unconscious and unable to make any responses, and is
therefore unable to provide for any of her personal needs."

"The document obtained by a certain media outlet simply gives her longtime friend Leslie Morris the authority - in the absence of 24-hour doctor care - to make care decisions for Joni once she leaves the hospital," the statement on Mitchell’s website continues. "As we all know, Joni is a strong-willed woman and is nowhere near giving up the fight."

The 71-year-old singer was taken to UCLA Medical Center after being found unresponsive at her home on March 31.
