When Miley Cyrus dropped her newest album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, her new weird, experimental sound wasn't for everyone. However, her latest musical offering did speak to John Mayer.
The "Daughters" singer took to Twitter on Sunday to praise Cyrus' new album, which he called "a masterwork of whack genius."
"I'm totally transfixed by this Miley Cyrus album," the 37-year-old singer/songwriter tweeted on Sunday afternoon. "This is why I love music. You can be one artist one year and the next discover some crazy light inside yourself and shine it everywhere."
But the Mayer's gushing adoration didn’t end there. His enchantment with Dead Petz seemed to be too much to handle, and his praise grew even stronger.
"This Miley album is amazing. You can't try to make something like this," he wrote. "You just tap the vein and don't question a single instinct."
"'Self control/ is /not something I'm working on,'" Mayer tweeted, quoting a lyric from the song "Slab of Butter (Scorpion)." "Sung heroically and melodically. Come. On."
After Mayer's short, complimentary Twitter rant, Cyrus posted a screenshot of his tweets to Instagram, which she captioned: "F**k yeah 2 dis John [Mayer] f**kin tweetinnnn spreeeee!."
Clearly, she appreciated the kind words.
Cyrus announced the new album during her time as host of the MTV Video Music Awards in August. That same night, she also inadvertently flashed the world. Check out the video below for a look at her wardrobe malfunction:
