Rumors of a Styles solo career have been swirling since Zayn Malik officially left the group in March 2015. The boy band was formed on the British X Factor in 2010.

According to Billboard, the first hints of the 22-year-old singer officially breaking out on his own came last year, when four songs performed and written by Styles were registered with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

Styles is also currently getting ready for his big-screen debut (apart from 2013’s 1D documentary, This is Us, that is), filming Christopher Nolan’s World War II drama, Dunkirk.

Earlier this year, a source reassured ET that One Direction was not headed for a permanent split, despite Styles taking time for his acting career and Louis Tomlinson venturing into fatherhood, saying, "[Their break] remains a hiatus with the intention of reuniting at some point."
