James Corden’s popular Carpool Karaoke is becoming its own show on Apple Music.
Based on The Late Late Show segment that has become an Internet hit, the new Carpool Karaoke series will feature celebrities as they ride and sing along with a yet-to-be-named host as they visit locations with deep meaning to them, belt out tunes from their personal playlists and surprise unsuspecting fans.
The series, executive produced by Corden and Ben Winston, will consist of 16 episodes, with production scheduled to begin soon. A brand new episode will debut on Apple Music each week.
Carpool Karaoke fans have a lot to look forward to, as Winston -- who is executive producer of The Late Late Show -- pointed to the segment’s “intimacy” and “the love our passengers have for music.”
It was only a matter of time before Corden would join fellow late-night host Jimmy Fallon (Lip Sync Battle) with a show based on a popular segment.
Since its inception in March 2015, Carpool Karaoke has amassed well over 830 million YouTube views -- its most popular featuring Adele, with more than 119 million views since January. First Lady Michelle Obama was featured in the most recent Carpool Karaoke.
On Monday’s Late Late Show, Corden was asked during a game of “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts” with Bad Moms' Mila Kunis and Christina Applegate which of the two dozen Carpool Karaokes he’s led is his least favorite. Corden pleaded the fifth.
