Blake Shelton knows how to impress a woman.

The 40-year-old country crooner excited fans in New York City on Friday morning when he performed a few of hits, including "Came Here to Forget," "She's Got a Way With Words" and "Boys Round Here," at Rockefeller Plaza as part of the Today show's summer concert series.

Shelton also sat down with the morning show co-anchors to chat about his famous girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, and how they came to collaborate on the song, "Go Ahead and Break My Heart."

"It's funny because I only started the song to just try to impress her," Shelton admitted. "At that time, we were getting to know each other, and I thought, 'Oh, I'll write her a song. That's what I'll do.'"

Sure enough, it worked and he asked Stefani to help him finish it. "Then she, like, writes the next verse and it's way better," Shelton quipped. "It worked out good for the album."

Shelton can't stop gushing over his girlfriend. On Thursday's Late Night, he told Seth Meyers that he's dating up. “I still can’t believe it. I think that she must have some vision problems,” he joked. “Maybe she needs help.”

Shelton also bragged about the 46-year-old rocker when he spoke to ET. "I just like being with her, but when she's all dolled up and we go places, it's always fun for me," the Voice mentor shared. "If she was here right now, not one person here would be looking at anybody else but her."
