Bruno Mars Says 'We Need Kanye,' Has No Hard Feelings After Past VMAs Dig: 'We're Cool'
By Alex Ungerman
Bruno Mars has only nice things to say about Kanye West.
While covering the newest issue of Rolling Stone, Mars addresses some comments the Life of Pablo rapper made after the 2013 Video Music Awards that appeared to take a slight dig at the "24K Magic" singer.
"I'm watching Drake perform, I see Bruno Mars perform," West said during a Brooklyn concert, after Mars had won Best Male Video for "Locked Out of Heaven." "And then they start giving out awards and s**t, and Bruno Mars won all the motherf**king awards! Can't no motherf**king networks try to gas everybody up so they can sell some product with the prettiest motherf**ker out?"
"I won one award!" Mars laughs (though, as the publication notes, he took home two that year), while insisting that he has no hard feelings toward Yeezy.
"It's Kanye – bottom line, at the end of the day, we need Kanye," he adds. "But what he said wasn't a sting. You can come at me all you want -- I've set myself up for that. But I am my own biggest critic."
"But me and him, we're cool," Mars says. "He called me and apologized."
But as Mars tells it, even Beyoncé knows when they've done all the preparation they can.
"Me and Beyoncé were both working on our diets, stressing out," he shares. "Then the day before, we're watching playback backstage, and she's eating a bag of Cheetos. I'm like, 'That's what you're doing?'"
"She's like, 'There's nothing more we can do these last two days. It's gonna be what it's gonna be. So I'm gonna enjoy this bag of Cheetos,'" he recalls.
Meanwhile, Mars is still going strong after the incredible Super Bowl show!
ET exclusively confirmed that the "Uptown Funk" singer will perform the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Paris, France, this year. Plus, Mars' highly anticipated third album, 24K Magic is set to hit stores on Nov. 18.
