As the world celebrates the Chilean miner rescue effort, former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant Cristian de la Fuente tells ET why he's feeling especially joyous.

"Days like today make me feel so very proud to be a Chilean," Cristina tells ET. "The courage these miners, their families and my fellow Chileans have shown has set a life example for us all.  It was a worldwide effort; our navy, with the help of the United States NASA team, have truly pulled off a miracle. It shows us all what we can do when we come together, we can accomplish great things! I am so happy. VIVA CHILE!"

Efforts are currently underway to free 33 trapped miners in Antofagasta, Chile.

The men have been trapped underground for over two months with little more than a small shaft to supply food and water.

The miners must be evacuated one at a time in a special cage built to free them from their captivity underground.
