Fitness devotee Madonna is sharing her passion with Mexico City -- opening her first gym! ET goes inside the facility and chats with the Material Girl about why she chose Mexico!
"We could create the gym and do all the beginning works of creating this brand undetected and we could do it undercover," Madonna tells ET. "If we did it in New York or Los Angeles I don't think we'd be able to work in secret. The other reason is I love Mexico."
The fitness center, called Hard Candy Fitness, is much like any other upscale Mexico City gym, with the exception that members will see giant Andy Warhol-esque prints of Madonna as they walk in the front door.
Madonna explains why she chose the name Hard Candy.
"That was the name of my last album but I also like the juxtaposition of words," she says. "When you exercise what are you working for? To get a hard body. But you want to look good, sweet, eye candy. I like the play on words."
The cost is nothing to sneeze at, with a reported price tag of $160 per month and a membership fee of $830 (which includes the first two months).
So what makes Hard Candy Fitness different from the other gyms out there?
"It's mine," Madonna says.
