Funnyman Ricky Gervais gets serious as he stands his ground against those who say he went too far on Sunday night's Golden Globe Awards.
"I don't think I did anything wrong," he says on tonight's edition of CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight." "Those were light jibes at these people and I'm sure they have a sense of humor."
He tells Morgan that in no way is he mocking the celebrities.
"I'm not judging them," he says. "Like I'm going to go out there and not talk about the issues in their industry."
The British comedian also says he wasn't there to make any friends.
"Don't forget I need to be an outsider there," he says. "I must not go out there as everyone's mate and schmooze, that's nauseating. I've got to come out there and roast them."
Gervais says if they didn't like what he delivered, he should have never been given the gig.
"They hired me for a job and if they didn't want me they shouldn't have hired me."
