Paul Rudd knew that he would be honored at the Oscar Wilde: Honoring the Irish in Film event on Thursday night; he just didn't know by whom.
Julia Roberts surprised the actor, presenting him with the Honorary Irishman award.
"Maybe I can become Irish," said Roberts, poking fun at the irony that Rudd was actually born to Jewish immigrants from England. "My middle name is Fiona, which is a step closer to being Irish than Paul Rudd was five minutes ago."
Roberts co-starred with Rudd and Bradley Cooper in a Broadway production of the play Three Days of Rain in 2006.
Prior presenters at the event include Tom Cruise and Kate Winslet.
