Lindsay Lohan appeared in a Los Angeles court today and rejected a plea offer that would have guaranteed her time behind bars.

The embattled actress chose to take her chances by delaying her case until a preliminary hearing with prosecutors and Judge Stephanie Sautner on April 22.

Judge Keith L. Schwartz granted the troubled star a chance to still accept a deal by March 25, where she would appear in court and can plead guilty or no contest and reportedly be sentenced to a possible 3 months in jail.

In the case that Lindsay stands trial, she could face a stiffer penalty for violating her probation stemming from her 2007 drunken driving case. Lindsay is being accused of felony theft by a Venice, CA, jewelry store for stealing a $2,500 necklace which took place in January during her probationary period.
