In 2008, Shania Twain split from Mutt Lange, her husband of 14 years, which left her with so much grief she says she lost her "ability to express myself and my ability to sing."

The country superstar is set to appear in the new docu-series, "Why Not? With Shania Twain," premiering Sunday, May 8 on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, and the all-new promo has Twain talking about coming back from the break-up.

"First I found out my marriage was over and the next day I found out about the affair," she says, referring to her ex-husband's affair with her best friend. "It was a real death. I really lost my sense of trust, compassion, honesty. Forget that. That's all gone, that's dead."

But she says she was ready to come out of her stupor.

"I was getting obsessive about my own pain, my own struggle and I just needed to snap out of it."

The new docu-series has her doing just that.

"I'm getting out on this tour and want to talk to people who have been through big disappointments, big emotional crisis, deep life struggles and I will learn something from that," she says. "I will learn from listening. I will learn from experiencing. I will be inspired."
