REPORT: Blunder Causes Plane Carrying Michelle Obama to Abort Landing

Michelle Obama's flight into Andrews Air Force Base on Monday had to abort its landing due to a mistake made by a TRACON air traffic controller, The Washington Post reports.

According to the newspaper, the plane carrying the First Lady came too close to a military cargo jet that controllers predicted might not clear the runway and cause a collision with the landing aircraft.

An FAA manager explained the mistake to The Post, saying, "Not only did he get them too close, he told the [Andrews controller] that they were farther apart than they were."

Michelle Obama's flight was returning from New York where the First Lady and Dr. Jill Biden made a television appearance together.
