Maria Shriver, Michelle Obama Attend Betty Ford's Funeral

Maria Shriver and Michelle Obama are among the guests attending former first lady Betty Ford's funeral service today in Palm Desert, CA.

Also expected at the service are former first ladies Rosalynn Carter and Hillary Rodham Clinton. Former President Bill Clinton had also planned to attend, but mechanical problems aboard his plane out of New York kept him from departing on time.

Eulogies will be given by Carter, National Public Radio journalist Cokie Roberts and author Jeffrey Masson during the funeral at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Palm Desert.

A private memorial service will also be held for Ford on Thursday in Grand Rapids, MI, where the former first lady will be laid to rest alongside her husband, former President Gerald Ford.

Betty Ford -- widely known for co-founding the famous addiction treatment facility in Rancho Mirage, CA bearing her name-- died last Friday at the age of 93.
