The North Carolina senator and Democratic presidential candidate initially denied reports that he cheated with campaign videographer Rielle Hunter while his wife Elizabeth was ill with cancer. He eventually admitted to the affair, but denied a report in the National Enquirer that he had fathered a child with Hunter. In January 2010, Edwards confessed that he had indeed fathered a child with Hunter and this revelation led his wife Elizabeth to split with her husband.
