Kelsey Grammer's next role in the spotlight might be a non-fictional one.
The former "Frasier" star tells the New York Post that after he retires from acting he might try to run for political office in New York.
"I look at my political aspirations as that last piece of my life -- where I hope to do something good for people and pay back a little," Grammer told the newspaper.
The actor has officially become a New Yorker after moving from L.A., and made his Broadway musical debut in La Cage aux Folles in 2010. Grammer has since left the play and is next set to portray a fictional Chicago mayor in the new Starz drama "Boss," premiering this fall.
Unlike most celebrities on stage and screen who tend to affiliate with left wing politicians, Grammer is a conservative Republican. The Emmy winner even traveled with Sen. John McCain during the last presidential election.
